Review of Aisle 8A

King of the Hill: Aisle 8A (1999)
Season 4, Episode 5
King of the Hill as an educational tool...

Warning: Spoilers
As a professor of psychology (development classes), I use this episode in class to show students about the psychology of puberty. Bobby Hill is a typical teen, and this episode offers so many examples of "normal." Bobby is curious about relationships, but scared to attempt any romance. He does work on his charm, and tries out his suave skills on Connie. Bobby and Joseph are at very different stages of development, and poor Connie (poor Hank?) has a typical frustrating/embarrassing first menstruation experience. Hank is typical of many men (not just Texans) feeling uncomfortable with both the topic, and talking to Connie, Bobby, and his mother about it. He also assumes that Connie needs emergency medical care, and that Peggy is better suited for handling the issue. Don't miss the brief exchange between Bobby and Joseph about half-way through the episode. Bobby Hill is great with the naive one liner!
