Bizarre and fascinating journey
5 July 2006
I believe that Giuseppe Andrews is a total genius. This movie, along with the "After School Specials" on the DVD release from Troma are the most original pieces of work I have ever seen. They are not for everybody-I think you definitely have to have a very open mind to enjoy his work. Touch Me In The Morning is almost like a home movie...these people that Giuseppe has brought into his life seem to just be themselves, and in turn, he's showing those lives to us. The storyline is very believable, maybe a little extreme sometimes, but very believable as we see Coney Island's fears, self-doubts, and relationships. I wouldn't call this a comedy, although some scenes were absolutely hilarious. But it's also a dark, sometimes scary odyssey through Coney's life. It's a spectacular movie, especially considering Giuseppe was only 20 years old when he made it.
