Relative Chaos (2006 TV Movie)

Very Cute
5 September 2006
Every year the Gilbert family, parents Will and Carol and their kids, Gil, Lil, and Dil, get together and the kids compete for the Gilbert Cup. Dil has never won in the 25 years that they have been doing this, but this year is looking up. He is a successful lawyer, has a great apartment, a new car, and a new girlfriend. After his girlfriend, Katherine, invites herself along, he finds himself swept up in the competition. As he gets more annoyed with his family and Katherine, he runs into his childhood friend, April.

I thought this movie was pretty cute. Being a TV movie, it doesn't get the length needed to expand on the characters and plot, but the cast does a great job. Christopher Gorham as Dil perfectly balances a sweet boy-next-door cuteness with a kind of goofy sexiness. Charisma Carpenter as Katherine is wonderfully self-centered and aggressive. Terry Bradshaw as Will and Fiona Reed as Carol are great as the loving and misguided parents. Nicholas Brendan as Gil is good as the very competitive oldest brother and Jennifer Robertson is good as the sister with her own secrets. My favorite character was April, played wonderfully by Mayko Nguyen. She totally captured April's feelings for Dil and her pride and confidence in him as well as her sense of humor and playfulness.

I think that the movie is definitely worth the time and it is a great family movie.
