Truly terrible last hurrah by the infamous Teruo Ishii
16 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Truly terrible final film (video, actually) of Teruo Ishii, the director of "Horror of Malformed Men". It is about as inept as anything can possibly get. It is badly shot, virtually directionless, and not worth one moment of your time. A modern Blind Beast imprisons a celebrity in his studio, sculpts her in plaster, kills her. At the same time, a misshapen dwarf (aren't they all?) is seen dropping a body part as he waddles home by a pulp fiction writer. The writer enlists a detective, played by director Shinya Tsukomoto, to investigate the mysterious half-pint. If any of this sounds even remotely interesting, don't be fooled. The acting, for the most part, is high school level, and the execution is cringe-inducing. Ishii has never been a great stylist, but he must have been napping between meal breaks on this stinker. There is mild nudity, some amateurish lesbianism, and a spot of forced sex, but, I repeat, none of it is even remotely engaging. Avoid. I wish I had.
