The Iceman Cometh (1960 TV Movie)
10/10
Stunning

Jason Robards felt O'Neill's characters better than any. His performance of the very long late act confession is never tedious but riveting. This production is as moving as any film of this tortured story could hope to be. Myron McCormick is brilliant as Larry and Robert Redford shows more talent than he does in most of his career. The production suffer from being an old TV movie, so the video quality is not as it could be, but the performances and direction are first rate. This is O'Neill. A treat is Tom Pedi as the bartender Rocky. This two VHS set is a worthy addition to any library of American Drama Clasics. The play is not about action or story, but is about character.

Nothing like this could happen on Broadway these days, but Broadway should take notice. This play is one of the greatest dramas ever put on stage in America by an American playwright.
