There aren't many shows on TV like this one - it strikes just the right note. Not sticky sweet like some shows - and not suspense/adventure driven like so many shows. No criminal/heroes, no courtroom drama. Fun and interesting characters -- Anne Heche is perfect. The scenery is great, the plot is interesting, the dialogue is clever (but not too) and there are only a few over the top instances. It's the kind of show you can put on and watch during dinner. I've heard that some who live in Alaska take issue with discrepancies or inaccuracies -- well, this does not bother me at all. I live in NY and so many shows that have NY as the location have glaring inaccuracies - I'm used to that. These are all meaningless and don't matter at all in the context of the show.
