"Careful with that sink...People gotta pee in that!"

The legendary artist Andy Warhol does an incredible job of filming and casting this cult classic. The artsy camera angles and documentary style film making bring the viewer into the film and the actors are terrific! Most of the dialogue is ad-libbed since Warhol wrote very little actual dialogue for any of his films and this makes the acting job done by the actors that much more believable. Joe Dellasandro is brilliant and he manages to look both attractive and repulsive at the same time in his role as the lead character in the film (whose sole purpose in life is scoring a "fix"). He is either naked or dressed in filthy, grimy clothes through the entire film. The many scenes of him actually shooting up heroin are quite disturbing to watch but the constant ranting and raving of many of the actresses in the background during each of these scenes overpowers the shock value. Holly Woodlawn is absolutely brilliant in her very first film role. Her ad-libbed lines are classic ("Ya can't make it with me...nah...you're kickin junk...but her, right away...UGHN!...F@*kin Her!") and her appearance is a total shock. Andrea Feldman also has a memorable performance as the obnoxious LSD addicted hippie with a voice that is like fingernails on a chalk board. There is no real plot or storyline to this film but that's not the purpose of the film so it truly does not matter...it's artistic value alone is worth watching it for!
