»Man and War, Part III« (Jenseits der Hoelle) is a Japanese production from 1973 dealing with the Russian-Japanese-Chinese conflict of the 1930s. It is a mediocre production but in contrast to many other baddies it has a constant storyline and believable, non-heroic acting. The movie is extremely violent and follows a Japanese company from their training to bloody battles. They get beaten a lot by their officers, burn down villages, shoot women and children, then most of them die themselves gruesome deaths when Russian tanks attack in the real big battle following up. A very unusual movie for both its time and cultural background. It is part III of a Japanese movie series. A DVD box exists for the Asian market.
