A kids' show about health
7 August 2007
I first saw a rerun of this educational kids' programme back in the mid-1990s on TVO shorty after I came home from school one day in June, as the summer holidays were coming. The station continued to air episodes of it during the holidays that year, and I continued to watch them, happily. During the following school year, when I was in Grade 3, the class was shown episodes of the show while we were studying the human body and health, some of which I had seen before, and some I hadn't.

Zardip was an alien from a planet on which the inhabitants did not know how to live healthy lifestyles. So, he came to Earth, disguised as a human boy, where he was to learn how humans lived, and report information back to his home planet! Obviously, he and the other inhabitants of his planet would benefit from this knowledge. In his disguise, Zardip managed to join a kids' health club, with the other club members unaware of his true identity! It turned out that this club was a great place for Zardip to get the information he needed, and each episode would show the extraterrestrial learning something new.

This show could teach kids a lot about health. As Zardip learned about it, so did the show's young viewers! In addition to its educational value, "Zardip's Search for Healthy Wellness" could also entertain kids with its premise, along with Zardip's adventures, the alien voices, etc. This clearly wasn't the most popular TVO kids' programme I ever saw while growing up, but those who still remember it from their childhood, I'm sure the vast majority of them remember it fondly, myself included.
