She's just like Deanna Durbin!
4 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
It's true: Philomena Nowlin completely dominates this cautionary tale about a young girl willing to do almost anything for fame and fortune in Tinsel Town. Unfortunately, that domination comes at a price: she seems to have downed gallons of coffee on the set, displaying an incredibly hyperactive personality burdened with logorrhea, an inability to hold still for more than a few seconds, and a voice that could shatter jam jars from a distance. The best part of all is that she plays an actress who, apparently, deeply impresses the obviously tone-deaf and bat-blind filmmakers she works for! You've got to love the video box art, too: a model-beautiful woman with an eighties hairstyle and a gun, neither of which have anything to do with the actual film. This is NOT an exploitation film--it seems to have been an honest effort to make a film about a vulnerable woman--but the end result is frankly an embarrassment for all concerned.
