One of the reasons for going to small film festivals is the hope of discovering little gems that could turn into a big hit. The Rat Thing is one of those gems that I discovered at the Bare Bones Film Festival.
The dialog is witty and entertaining - flowing naturally and with total believability. Joey Flanagan played by Michael McGee and Jack Kelly played by Kevin Keresey are two down and out characters who will "stick with you" long after the credits have rolled. The story is one that you will be telling others about - it is totally water cooler chat worthy.
And by the way, prior to seeing the film, I did not know nor am I related to anyone involved with The Rat Thing. I'm reviewing the movie because I genuinely liked it.
I hope they get distribution and create a DVD with all the outtakes and commentary. I would certainly buy it. I encourage everyone to check out this wonderful, funny film.
