A glimpse into the world of Japanese voice actors
14 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
A short lived series about two people from different walks of life who meet, have sex, become friends and fall in love. The boy is a advertising copy writer for a snack company. He meets a girl who takes pity on him when he is stood up on a date. She saves his evening and then they part, probably never to see each other again, except that her apartment house burns down later that night and he sees her standing in the rain. He offers her shelter. It's all supposed to be very good-neighborly and platonic, but her shock causes her to cling to him for more than simple comfort and they wind up having sex. The next day they agree it was all a mistake and she will find her own place as soon as she can. He goes to work where the company is auditioning voice actresses for a new snack. Lo and behold, the girl, who is a novice actress, is trying out for the job. She gets the job. Time passes. She begins to get other acting jobs. Her stay at his apartment continues, but without a repeat of their one sexual encounter. He begins to fall for her but she's not willing to commit to a relationship. Tensions build. There are arguments. They break up. They get back together. All in all, it's an interesting slice of life of a world that should be of interest to anime fans, i.e. the world of the actors who bring to life the characters of the shows they love.
