It's quite a simple storyline, but well executed and menacing enough to keep you interested. A couple of small plot holes, but overall there are some pretty good nail biting moments. I would suspect that the horror genre experts will find it disappointing, but apart from the gore traps, I wouldn't say it was a horror film anyway.
I did however find the brothers more menacing than their father, which was a bit of a disappointment as they had built him up to be as monstrous as the baddie in Wolf Creek ('don't wake Poppy, or you'll wish you hadn't').
Comparisons with Wolf Creek are inevitable and maybe it's time for the Aussies to change what is becoming a stereotyped villain. Scruffy, dirty, unsophisticated, sadistic rednecks.
Certainly worth renting, maybe not to buy.
