Training is NOT fun
5 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This is a good episode. Now I am NOT going to mention the gorgeous sweaty demon, though he's definitely part of the fun... (hehe). (And I am sure that male viewers didn't fast-forward sweaty Alyssa Milano either). Even though Cole is now a good guy and he clearly means well, Julian McMahon plays him in such a way that you never quite know whether he means what he's doing or not, so that he remains quite fascinating.

Apart from that, I think this is only the second time in four years that the show has used Asian magic as a main plot. I think most elements could have been used outside the Asian setting, but the fights nicely tie in with the training sessions, and put Phoebe's long training in the martial arts to good use. Also, this is the sisters' first trip into limbo, although this is not the same limbo as in later seasons. (And on a side note, Piper must really have some bad karma, considering how frequently she ends up transformed or dead over the years. Maybe because she's married to a dead man in the first place ?) Anyway, the body-switch is useful to the main arc because it allows people to interact in a way they wouldn't normally, and it also makes Paige closer to her other sisters since she's now one of them (although I think Alyssa Milano's imitation of Rose MacGowan's mannerisms is too childish, but I'm niggling).
