"Hold on to a frame, so we won't crap each other", says Adam Miauczynski speaking in to the phone, desperately trying to impress the pretty girl, who is sitting next to him. "Nothinh Funny" the movie is quite a controversial drama/comedy made by Marek Koterski - one of the most famous directors in Poland.
Adas, the main character, is a film director "killed by a galosh". On his death bed he narrates his ironically banal life story. "Damn it! Nothing funny happened to me in my bloody life" begin Adam, who always had bad luck. He thought that when he gain humanistic education and become film director he will succeed and earn lots of money in show business. Unfortunately and we don't know why, Adas is unsuccessful in his career and social life, he is always 2nd! Miauczynski never cut corners in his life. He mainly aspires to be in a philosophical way a good person, to achieve success, to relate with the perfect women Malgorzata(inspired from Mikhail Bulgakov novel), etc. When he thought that he finally found the ideal women: "The M", he decide to break up with her, because he farts while he makes love and that's why he won't to compromise beside her. After that on consolation his friend told him: "Don't worry man, she's not for you... she's farting too much". Adam desperately wants to vie and make change in his cryptic life but the more he trying, the more funny failure he suffer.
"Nothing Funny" is not lucid, to see all the jokes you have to realize what the post communist reality looks like. Adas Miauczynski is a very complex and symbolic character, if you really want to know him you need to watch other movies about him, like: "We're All Christs", "Day of the Wacko", "Inned Life", "House of Fools",... Koterski has just perfectly written the script lots of metaphors, play on words, quips, full of sarcasm, etc. All the lines still are being quoted nowadays by many people in Poland.
