I have been reading the sword of truth series since I was in high school, and I am willing to admit that this is my favorite series of yet. And though I don't really jump up and down with joy over the people they cast, I am not dreading the T.V series either. I guess I like the actress for Kahlan, I am alright with the casting of Richard, and I don't particularly like the actor they cast for Zedd. Though these assessments are purely looks since I cannot really comment further. However people have to realize that when a movie or T.V series is made based on your favorite book series then yes you are entitled to your opinion of the characters they cast, but you can only go so far without actually watching the series.
I agree that it is really how these actors and actresses play the characters that really count. Sure I have pre-judged the actors, which I try not to do, but it is based on looks, and I understand that I am never going to have the characters in my head look exactly like that on the T.V. And even though I may not be impressed with what I see so far, I will be sitting down and watching the first episode, to see how they brings this series alive, and how the actors really bring the characters to life. Looks aren't the most important thing when making a book come to life, though I agree it is a factor.
So I guess what I am saying is to judge by looks for now, since it is almost impossible to not do so, but keep an open mind and at least watch the series to see how it plays out. Right now I am the stage where I am really excited because it is my favorite book series coming to life, but terrified that they will screw it up. I guess we all have to wait and see :)
