This plot device has been done to death, hasn't it? Thieves, supposedly THRUSH, but who knows, plan to rob the Vatican of its art treasures. How? In this case, instead of impersonating the Pope as in "Foul Play", a renaissance type thief impersonates a Cardinal. His henchmen impersonate the Swiss guards. The plan seems simple enough, except that a bungling THRUSH agent, Hosch escapes from Slate and Dancer, and leads them to the thief's castle. Of course, since the plot takes place in Italy, there has to be the requisite Italian lover who falls in love with April Dancer. What is remarkable about Cesare, however, is that for once, his prototype is played as much more intelligent than this type of character is usually portrayed. In fact, you almost want Cesare to succeed.
