Although the cast is great, the story isn't. This contains spoilers all over so stop reading if you don't want to be disappointed before you've seen the movie. This could be a thriller all the way to the end where in the final scene's the criminal involvement of all the main characters is revealed. Instead the movie reveals the dirty cops right at the beginning of the movie which immediately killed all the possible suspense in this movie. After that it's basically a story which runs the possible good name of the NYPD into the ground. All police procedures are discarded, for instance which police officer goes into the hood on it's own to check out a possible hide-out from a known cop killer and then run into the building after hearing shots fired, find 3 cops stuffing a stick down a suspects throat and thinks he can control the scene and start saving the suspects live. Surprised that he calls back-up before entering the building which contradicts every action so far and an even bigger surprise that the 3 bad cops didn't kill him on the spot which was in there line of behaviour so far. Instead his brother-in-law, who is the leader of the bad cops, sets him up by grabbing his gun and kills the suspect with it, confident that he doesn't tell. After that the story goes on about how the father wants to twist the truth to save the career of his older son despite of other son. After the older son is set straight by his dying wive they going to arrest there brother-in-law. On the way to the brother-in-law a shooting is called in in which the other bad cops are involved. The go there first and find a highly explosive situation. They decide to split up and the younger brother is going to arrest his brother-in-law on it's own and then return to shooting place instead of going to the nearest police station to lock him up. After he arrest him, which he did fighting him bear handed, he walks back (like a cop walks) to the shooting and guess what happens, he runs into the angry mob with some victims of the brother-in-law. The brother-in-law got killed and the mob decided to let the brother live probably counting on him not telling. Doesn't this sounds a little unbelievable to you, it does to me.
