Team work

Warning: Spoilers
An enterprising young man, Lepetit, is asked to try to fix a big Parisian department store and make it productive. He has a revolutionary idea, engage the staff into working with one another as a team. He feels that is what is lacking to revive a store that has been around for quite some time. The corporation that owns the property want immediate results; their alternative is to sell the site to a Japanese company that wants to build a hotel on the site.

Lepetit's methods are put into practice, although at first, the older employees feel nothing will work. As old habits begin to change, more and more of the staff begin feeling better about their work and about themselves. The only problem Lepetit has not figured out is in the greed of the board of directors who see a way to make a quick profit by abandoning the project, which was not seriously considered from the start.

Cedric Klapish, the director, made two other films prior to this one. He shows an uncanny talent for getting right the diverse group of individuals that populate this movie. "Riens du tout" is entertaining and light, as comedies of this sort should be. He does a good job moving the large cast into funny situations and getting them to be at their best.

Fabrice Luchini, who is seen as Lepetit, is a great comedian, who shows why he is one of the best actors in France at the moment. It is difficult to single out anyone in particular because this is an ensemble production.
