Review of Samraat

Samraat (1982)
4/10
Typical masala
15 August 2009
Samraat is an insignificant but entertaining comedy/romance/action and it may add nothing new in terms of story and film-making, but as a film does work in parts. It is a colourful picture with nice songs and quite enjoyable proceedings. Dharmendra and Jeetendra play two pals, one of whom falls for Hema Malini. Samraat is the name of a ship these guys try to find the truth about in order to release Hema's father from prison. Well, just another story. The guys are their usual self so there is nothing special that can be said about them. Hema Malini, however, repeats her familiar comic role of a talkative, bubbly girl, and she is just adorable and extremely funny. I love her in such roles. This is a typical 1980s Hindi masala. You can skip this one, but if you want, you can watch it for Hema Malini.
