I agree wholeheartedly with the first reviewer. I did not expect to be carried away with Austen, knowing that she pretty much dwells on the themes of class distinction & lovers' angst. I've sort of thought of her novels as 16-year-old-girls' fantasies. But, the interpretation by the lead characters left me breathless. I liked Northanger Abbey also, but more for the Gothic feel of it. This version of Persuasion is something I'd recommend to any of my friends, especially those who like the "chick flick" genre. This time, without the face-munching kisses & unnecessary sex scenes. My questions have been answered by other writers on how costumes are re-used. I noticed that in a previous Austen interpretation, I believe it was Pride and Prejudice. That's fine with me.
