Green grass, clear water, blue skies!
25 February 2010
I've never found a movie that define Alberta as well as this one. "There is a places where the grass is green, the river runs clear, and the sky is blue as far as I can see..." The Adventures of a slightly slow eastern European Immigrant across rural Alberta landscapes in search of an old-western Utopia. A good solid film that Albertans should be proud of. There is humor through out, some playing on stereotypes, some more subtle. I really felt for the main character, who sets off on adventure to find "Saddle River" Along his way companions join him on his journey; a down and out divorced guy, a spiritual native, a traveling German who sells parts of the Berlin Wall, and a talking Bison. This group of mismatched travelers all ride along in a beat up old Honda civic with a western saddle strapped to the roof.
