There are plenty of worthy Mexican films and this is not one of them. The director, producers and actors came up with a film that is racist, elitist and just plain awful. The people who worked on the movie did not mean to show this faults, which is worst because it just demonstrates how ignorant on culture the writers and director are. A plain example can be seen on the promotional pictures displayed on this web page. All of the characters have their names written on the ad, except for the poor bus driver who instead of having her name on the poster has the title "Driver." And this is the problem with the whole movie. The rich characters have little personality but worst of all the poor characters have none at all. The guy who steals can't help himself. When he tries to help out his rich friend he also robs him at the same time. The rich people want to be lawyers, economists and more, the poor people ambition is to drive a bus, try and become a waiter and just make it through the day.
The worst story in the movie is about a spoiled girl (She still lives at home with her parents even though she looks like 30) who is waiting on her dad for his surprise birthday party. She asks the cleaning lady's daughter to help her out on the decorations. When the poor girl replies that she has homework the spoiled 30-year-old whines and at the end commands her to help her out. While they're working on the cake and decorations the rich girl decides she is too tired to help out and commands the poor girl to take care of everything! And then we get a story of how they "bond" but in reality when the rich girl offers the poor girl alcohol and cigarettes and she replies "no", rich girl bullies her into trying both drugs. What a wonderful bond!
And the movie goes on like this, the rich people being the saviors of the poor. The poor people being plagued with bad habits like drinking, smoking pot and getting high on different drugs. The rich people are HONORABLE for getting to know the poor and the poor are just LUCKY to get to know the rich. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Save yourself the time and don't watch it, unless you want to study how NOT to make a film.
