Funny show

I hated cooking shows until I discovered The Galloping Gourmet. I loved the way he made cracker crumbs. He wrapped the crackers in a tea towel and pounded on them with his wine bottle.

My favorite episode involved a marmalade soufflé. It wasn't done yet, but it was getting a bit too brown. He explained that the thing to do in that case was to grease a piece of brown paper and put it on the top of the soufflé. He didn't have any brown paper. He appealed to the camera crew. They didn't have any either. He finally greased the recipe and placed it on top of the soufflé. As he was preparing the finished product for presentation he recommended sifting powdered sugar over the burned part.

He cooked on a gas stove and had an unfortunate habit of using tea towels instead of pot holders. One time he finally set his tea towels afire as he lifted a pot off the stove, causing him to run very quickly to the sink with his flaming burden. I loved that show!
