Music for Montserrat (1997 TV Special)
9/10
Pleasant Concert for a Small Caribbean Island
7 August 2010
On 15 October 1997, the artists Phil Collins, Arrow, Carl Perkins, Mark Knopfler, Sting, Elton John, Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney among others performed the concert "Music for Montserrat" in the Royal Albert Hall in London for the reconstruction of the small Caribbean island of Montserrat. This island had been devastated by the hurricane Hugo in 1989 and some years later, Montserrat was practically destroyed by the volcanic activity.

This concert is wonderful and the sympathy of the artists with the people of Montserrat is admirable. For me, some of the greatest moments of this concert are the songs "Moment for Nothing" performed by Mark Knopfler, Sting, Phil Collins and Eric Clapton together on the stage; "Your Song", by Elton John; and "Yesterday" and "Golden Slumbers", by Paul McCartney that performs a duet with Elton John in the pianos in one wonderful version of "Hey Jude" together with the artists and orchestra. My vote is nine.
