Luke really blows his cool
23 August 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Well...Luke showed what he was really made of on the inside. He blew himself -- along with some other folks at Godric's lair -- to kingdom come.

Eric tricked Sookie into sucking some silver bullets -- along with his blood -- out of his chest. Bill announces: "Eric was in no danger". Sookie responds to Eric: "You big lying a-hole". Snappy dialog right there. Eric looks pleased with himself. Later, Bill explains to Sookie that not only will Eric know where Sookie is and what she's feeling, but that Sookie will feel an attraction -- sexual -- towards Eric, now that she's sucked his blood. For it only takes a drop or two. Sookie is not pleased.

Vampires sure do seem to have a lot of money. I guess it's because they've been around so long, because it sure isn't because they work or anything.

Maryann discusses the nature of ecstatics throughout history with Tara and Eggs. Tara's response: "...oh".

Sookie and Jason share a tender moment -- realizing they're the only remaining members of their family. They vow to do better and be the adults their departed family members would be proud of.

Steve and Sarah seem to have a bit of an interpersonal meltdown on TV. Sarah to the camera, about Steve: "If he's not the center of attention he just...flips out". Steve to Sarah: "You need to read you some St. Paul, missy". Sarah to Steve: "I hate your hair".

Arlene to Lafayette (about Daphne's death): "She was clumsy, stupid, and mean...but I wouldn't wish that kind of death on a possum". (Jerry Springer meets Petticoat Junction)

Hoyt confronts his overbearing mother over her hatred for many things. You GO, Hoyt!!

Sookie's dream sequence...she's in bed with Eric...she gives one of her reasons for not wanting to be a vampire: "I don't feel right without a tan". (Okay...now THAT'S funny!)

And poor sheriff Dearborne...seems like he and Kenya have arrested just about everybody in Bon Temps.

Oh...to be a fly on the wall...(good thing Sam is an adept shapeshifter...he was able to shift into a fly and get out of jail free...now he's on the table at Sookie's, watching Maryann, Tara, and Eggs.)

And speaking of Maryann, Tara, and Eggs...Lafayette and Tara's mother come and take Tara out of the house, but not before her eyes go all black.

Maryann seeks vengeance...she has the whole town under her spell...SHE WANTS SAM MERLOTTE...meanwhile, Sam buzzes off to where Andy is staying. Andy doesn't seem too concerned that Sam arrives at his door buck naked. Andy might be headed for a fall. Or an enlightenment. Or a change of lifestyle. It's hard to tell at this point.

The whole point of Godric's more reasonable stance than most of the other vampires is undermined by the fact that he himself acknowledges that he no longer thinks like a vampire. And his desire to commit suicide (or whatever the vampire equivalent would be) further indicates that he no longer desires the vampire life. He tells Eric that it's a totally unnatural existence: "Our existence is insanity. We don't belong here...It's not right; we're not right". In the end...he made his peace. He sees the sunrise...and bursts into flames.
