one of segal's better films *some spoilers*

what more can i say about steven seagal. only in a seagal movie can he fatally injure a man with a stick of salami and turn a butcher shop into a house of pain. i have seen many of his films and like this one immensely as it was one of his earlier roles and i understand that it would be his breakout performance. needless to say, there is a a lot of graphic violence and brutality throughout the film but that is typical of his action flicks as it makes up for the weak plot. he delivers his lines with deadpan expression and one will never get an Oscar worthy performance from him. but like so many other actions stars before him and present, it's the well choreographed action sequences and hand on hand combat scenes that keep the viewer interested. one of the most fun scenes is at the bar that steven seagal's character visits in search of his partner's killer and winds up kung-fuing his way through all the patrons who take him on. the other one is where he's in a butcher shop and the employees attack him with little success. he whacks one guy with a stick of salami and ducks out of the way as another takes a butcher knife to his own leg...screaming and writhing in pain on the floor. highly enjoyable with plenty of gratuitous violence, coarse language and nudity to keep one entertained.
