I am a big fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and do marginally prefer it over Angel. But I will say this, apart from a rather lacking Season 4 and some moments of poor CGI, Angel is a great show. One thing that really works in the show's favour is the charismatic, brooding and compelling performance of David Boreanaz as the titular character, and I loved how Cordelia's role is expanded upon. A vast majority of the time, Angel looks great, with a suitably Gothic feel to it in the darker and more intense scenes very like its predecessor, and the theme tune is not only memorable but kicks ass too. The stories are always well-paced and intriguing, the fight scenes and choreography are often fantastic and the writing is top notch not just in the dialogue but also in the characterisation.
