On Hawaii's north shore, surfer boys Fabian (as Jody Wallis), Tab Hunter (as Ralph "Steamer" Lane), and Peter Brown (as Chase Colton) compete see who can catch the biggest wave. They find respective romances with beach girls Shelley Fabares (as Brie Matthews), Susan Hart (as Lily Kilua), and Barbara Eden (as Augusta "Augie" Poole). They are all in terrific shape. "Ride the Wild Surf" features some genuine surfing footage, which unfortunately matches very poorly with the rest of the film. It's interesting to see four of the stars with unexpected hair colorings - Hunter, Brown, Fabares and Eden - Mr. Hunter's must have washed out as many scenes reveal his naturally blond locks. Future "Dark Shadows" star Roger Davis and Robert's son James Mitchum have featured roles. Jan and Dean's excellent title song is played over the closing credits.
