Devil in the Flesh (1998 Video)
4/10
Not all that much going on and pretty uninteresting.
3 November 2011
After moving in with her grandmother, a teen's obsession with a teacher at her new school starts to border on the obsessive until it soon appears to everyone that she may be involved in the rapidly-growing body count around him.

There isn't a whole lot going on for this one to really make much of an impact in what's going on and it really tends to drag on in the beginning when there's no body count to speak of and it really only has McGowan walking around in halter-tops and other revealing attire to provide any interest. Even several sex scenes can't mask the fact that this one doesn't have much of anything going on in this half, as they're not that erotic or sexual and just tend to make the film's slow opening all the more irritating. This is also due to the fact that the lame detective investigation angle just ends up going nowhere and appears to be there to pad out time, illustrated with the pointless-but-nonetheless-humorous approach of their quizzing each other about various mental diseases does make up somewhat for their lack of interest. The other big problems here are the constant and utterly banal religious arguments that frequently come to a head because of the two characters, which aren't that interesting and just tend to get old very fast, as well as the sheer lack of nudity from the main cast-member despite there being two distinct moments where that could've been accomplished with relative ease, especially with its overall feel of an Erotic Thriller made all the more sense. There's some decent deaths in the last half that provide some gore, but overall it's too little too late to save it.

Rated R: Graphic Violence, Nudity, Graphic Language, some Sexual Situations and a Rape scene
