The town of the walking dead
4 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
What makes season two my favourite is how the relationship between the brother's was stronger than ever. Each of them watching over the other, caring and worrying about him. The fact that they would die for each other in the blink of an eye was overwhelming, but above all, I loved the level of trust between them.

Sam gets another vision, But this time it is about Dean killing a young man tied to a chair thinking there was something in him. Dean is worried about he claims if he was going to kill someone he would have a good reason. Yet, Sam thinks Dean has been acting irrationally and crazy lately. They locate the guy, however they find out that the whole town is infected by a daemonic virus that turns people violent. The brothers and a few uninfected people including, an ex marine Sarge, seek refuge in a local clinic. Unfortunately the nurse attacks Sam and bleeds on him. Being infected, the Sarge tries to kill Sam, But Dean stops him, he gives him the keys to the Impala and asks him to take the others and head out of town, then locks himself in a room with Sam willing to die together. Sam asks Dean to just give him his gun to shoot himself and leave with the others to save himself, when Dean declines Sam asks him whether it was because of their dad, but Dean says that it was partly because John but there was something else. However, they find out later that the towns people are all gone and that Sam is immune to the virus. The brother's leave town not knowing what really happened back there, But when they are alone Sam asks Dean to explain what he said earlier. The episode ends with a cliffhanger of what Dean might tell Sam about John's secret.

This is one of the best episodes in season 2, with some heartbreaking moments. Especially when Dean gave up the keys to his precious Impala (The only thing he really had in life and his only real home) and locked himself with Sam willing to die with him. You can see that Dean is suffering under the crushing weight of the secret John had laid on his shoulders. Yet what hurt the most was when Sam got injured by the nurse that attacked him and he reached out his hand to Dean, but the Sarge held Dean back realizing that Sam was infected by the virus. The look on Sam's face was painful. Furthermore, What I liked the most was that when the time came Dean couldn't let Sam down and kill Duane. He had to trust Sam's judgment about him and take the risk.

But, The most important observation in this episode is: Jensen can cry and still look good but not Jared, not at all :).

On the downside there are some things that really bothered me about this episode:

1- I wished that Sam would believe in Dean more than he did at the beginning of this episode, comforting Dean a little more. I know the guy was worried, but had it been the other way around Dean would definitely reassure Sam.

2- I hated the idea that Dean killed Mr. Tanner before knowing what was really going on just because the guy attacked them with a knife. OK, I know the guy was dangerous and that Dean was eventually right in what he did but couldn't he restrain the guy in some way, it was not something I thought Dean could do (to kill someone) no matter how irrational he was.

3- I also hated that the nurse took down Sam way too easily. and When did she get ever infected in the first place? And why did she wait that long to get Sam alone? She had many chances with him before!

However above all, This episode raised a pile of important questions: Why was Sam immune? Did the daemons have to infect a whole town just to test Sam's immunity? (It was a way too complicated plan, I mean they could have done it in a thousand easier ways), Did they do the same test with the other psychic kids? Most important, Could The Yellow Eyed Daemon control Sam's visions to lead him to this town? If so, Why did he lead Sam to stop him and save that family in the "Salvation" episode?
