Vico Torriani was an excellent pop singer and actor,but mostly singer in Switzerland,Germany and Austria in the 1950' 60's 70' and so on .His voice is smooth and very light.Mantovani and his world famous orchestra, known for his cascading string, makes a film appearance .My guess is that his German is phonetic,maybe cause he was British.His Two hits are in this film.His 1951,Charmaine. is the beginning of the title film.His second hit ,that you have heard in Christmas albums, the ice skating waltz, plays in an ice skating sequence ,at the hotel in San Moritz .Vico plays Hosenpfot, who is aspiring singer,who is a son of a wealthy hotel chain owner,who is a waiter at the Hotel restaurant.His girl friend,Blanche,played by Ina Halley,works at the hotel floral shop with best friend and room mate Fleurette , played by Ruth Stephens,and Fleurs Fiancé Peer, who manages the Mantovani orchestra, played by Wolfgang Wahl. Stalwart German character actress Fita Benkhoff,plays wealthy socialite Elinor,who's vacationing at San Mortitz with Gigolo style Baron Karl Heinz Von Schlankenhalten, played by Boy Gobert,who becomes interested in Blanche too.Vico sings with the Mantovani orchestra after ours.his domineering Father ,who controls a big chain of hotels,is angry with him cause he prefers to sing than learn the hotel business.After a big fight .He goes with Mantovani and his orchestra, so does Blanch and Fuer and their flower selling too,go to Rome to perform in one of the hotel chains , until manager of the chain,Leux, played by another stalwart German character actor, Rudolph Vogel,tattle tails to his daddy, then his paid off by Peer. He then starts looking for a singing job in Rome and no luck,end up as a singing garbage man.then he meet Elinor again and encourages him to sing.He end up as a street singer with a vagabond artist group , until he meets his girl friend again. Then they decide to get married ,but when father finds out he fires her too.She doesn't care.Well he ends up successful on the German revue stage but after the show Elinor shows up for the publicity .Blanch takes it the wrong way and leaves.But success is not enough He ends up back at San Moritz ,copy to find Blanch at her father clock shop chiming the bells with Mantovani and Fleurrette and her boy friend .The title song , you are beautiful like music is played through out the movie and is relaxing like a Perry Como singing.
