Murder in Mind: Landlord (2003)
Season 3, Episode 6
8/10
This Landlord Means Business!!!
6 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Alan Willis is the landlord from Hell!! He is the owner of a few slum properties that wouldn't look out of place in "Oliver Twist"!! Draws don't pull out, stoves are on the blink and the gas heating is highly suspect!! Add to that a churlish. grumpy manner on the part of the landlord (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and it is amazing why anyone would want to live there!!! But they do, people like Claire, who has just arrived from Australia and the odd neighbour from upstairs.

The next day, when the landlord drops in to change a light bulb, he finds Claire dead - a victim of the faulty heating system that he never intended to repair. As is usual with him, he has his own key - so he finds Claire in bed, to his thinking, dead. So he begins an elaborate plot, involving his wife, to drive Claire to an out of the way spot, in short to make it look like a suicide. But no sooner does he think he can relax than every man and his dog turns up looking for Claire. There's the pizza delivery boy, who turns up with a brochure, a friend of hers from Uni, David, looking for his car. Yes, that's right, he had helped her move in because Claire couldn't drive!!! Even the nosy upstairs neighbour has a few things to discuss with the by now stressed out landlord. His wife is just as bad, knowing that the luxury that she was enjoying has been gained by other people's misery made her evil in my eyes.

Definitely Series 3 is shaping up to have some of the best episodes so far.
