The pool cleaner
28 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
At the start of this story, Victor Ruiz, the son of a well to do family, realizes his father is ruined with no prospects to continue with his life as he knew it. Victor must make adjustments. Victor must take a hard look at his so-far cushy life and do something to get some pocket money which his father cannot provide any more. So he decides to try his hand cleaning the pools of the affluent neighborhood where he grew up.

Victor has had a crush on the beautiful Nicole, his neighbor and classmate. Nicole, a popular girl, is not so lucky in the boyfriend department. Her boyfriends have a thing about the maids working for her family, a real disappointment and a failure on her part. Nicole hides a dark secret about her lovely figure that no one knows. Victor eventually is able to win her, when Nicole finds out he is worth her love.

A romantic comedy from Chile shown on cable recently. It was directed by Jose Luis Guridi and written with the star of the film, Sebastian Badilla, who is not exactly a matinée idol in looks, but who exudes charm to win any woman he decides to go after. The film has its moments, but the jokes get a bit tired after a while. It is predictable and a light entertainment to please local tastes, no doubt.
