Windom Earle starts to play a game
3 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
After the double shock of learning that Leo has awakened from his coma and the discovery of the body in the police station in the previous episode we get to see what happens next in each case. Leo attempts to kill his wife Shelly and she only survives because Bobby returns. In the police station Cooper states that the killer is his former partner Windom Earle; he later confides to Sheriff Truman that he had had an affair with Earle's wife and that she had been killed in an identical manner. Cooper also believes that the chess board in front of the victim suggests that Earle is intent on playing a deadly game! Else were it looks as though Evelyn has used James in order to get rid of her husband and Hank has been sent back to prison for a parole violation.

This episode gets off to a great start; I really thought Leo was going to kill Shelly; Eric DaRe and Mädchen Amick put in particularly fine performances in this tense scene. The introduction of the Windom Earle storyline was well handled and it was a bit of a surprise to learn that Cooper had had an affair with his partner's wife; not only does it give Earle a motive but it also adds to Cooper's character. Sadly with Cooper having been cleared DEA Agent Denise Bryson appears to have left the show; this is a pity as he was a rather entertaining character. Once again we get an episode with a gripping ending that leads the viewer keen to see what happens next; this time Leo meets Windom; it will be interesting to see what happens now these two dangerous characters have met.
