An award for art is ridiculous!

Warning: Spoilers
I might be going a bit too far, but I think this episode is down there with that "Jakovasaurs" one from the early years as one of worst SOUTH PARK episodes ever! There are not many *bad* ones for my money (I don't think I have made a bad review for a SOUTH PARK here, aside of the one for that Jakovasaurs thing), hell, "Funnybot" is not terrible and it has the enough stuff for a 6 out of 10 rating. Nevertheless, I didn't laugh hard with any of its elements.

The main point of the episode is actually very clever; I remember a scene from PEARL JAM TWENTY in which one of the Pearl Jam members (Jeff Ament, for those who know of what I'm talking about!) makes a great comment on the Grammy awards: he basically says that an award for art is RIDICULOUS. And the main point that "Funnybot" says is that, only that is about an award for comedy (later you find out thanks to the commentary track that it was a sort of inside joke since SOUTH PARK had just been nominated for a comedy award hosted by Comedy Central! They thought it was certainly pretty damn ridiculous).

The other main thing is about Tyler Perry; now, I don't really know who this guy is but he sure gets the "South Park treatment" really well – I found amusing the jokes on Perry and the conclusion that he got is absolutely the funniest thing from "Funnybot". There's also an interesting element that made think in Charles Chaplin's THE GREAT DICTATOR. I mean, one of the early jokes from this episode is that the Germans are the least funny people of the planet, so at one point we have Trey Parker speaking German. Was it real German or a THE GREAT DICTATOR kind of thing? Certainly Parker could have go for that Chaplin thing and if he did go for it, well, it wasn't really funny anyway. Oh, and I forgot to write about the character named Funnybot (a German robot)… I guess I forgot to do it because it wasn't very funny.

PS: there's a scene in which I thought Jay Leno was going to kill Kenny! Could have been some crazy stuff.
