Uninspired animated film
1 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
"AniMen: Triton Force" feels (and looks) pretty much like a Saturday Morning Cartoon (a not very good one) having a generic, extremely simplistic plot and clichéd characters.

Personally, I don't mind the fact that the plot were so simple and unoriginal but the main problem of this movie is that it is not even funny to watch: It is very slow and dull for the most part, being incredibly heavy-handed at moments to the point of being tedious.

The main characters are just generic archetypes: The serious hero, the super-evil villain who laughs a lot, the annoying "funny" guy who keeps telling many bad jokes…It was very, very hard for me to care about any of those characters. I could barely distinguish one from another, since their personalities were so bland and boring.

The action scenes weren't very good either, being way too tamed and forgettable. The last fighting scene felt endless.

In what concerns to the animation quality, "AniMen: Triton Force" feels incredibly dated, having the looks of a CGI Saturday Morning Cartoon from the nineties, such as "Beast Wars" or "Reboot". Except that "Beast Wars" and "Reboot" were actually funny to watch, unlike this. The first time I saw this movie, I thought that it was older. Too my surprise, ""AniMen" is from the year 2010, making my impressions about the animation of this film to be even worse.

The design of the characters is terribly bland and unappealing, being just slightly less ugly than other cheap animated CGI films, such as "Delgo". On the other side, the designs of the giant robots and the spaceships were somewhat original and interesting. Too bad that we couldn't say the same thing about the other aspects from this movie.

Personally, I think that even little kids will find this boring.
