Mike wigs out
29 August 2012
This episode has Gloria coming home from work wearing a black wig, although I'm not sure what her intention was, but it did the trick for Mike, as he can't keep his eyes and hands off her. The wig looks like Sally Field's Gidget, but you'd think Mike saw a goddess; he has one thing on his mind, and you can guess what that is, even though Gloria feels like the other woman in her own marriage, and refuses to keep the wig on. Vincent Gardenia(Frank Lorenzo)makes a funny cameo, as he invites Edith, Gloria, and Mike to the movies, as Archie's away at a convention in the first half of the episode, but Mike wants to stay home and be alone with Gidget, er, I mean Gloria. The couple end up having a fight and Mike heads to the park for a long walk, and soon after, Archie comes home and hears the news about the Mike and the wig, as he calls Mike "a hair lover" and a "weirdwolf", and tells Gloria to keep her door locked. After thinking it over, Mike feels that he wasn't wrong to be attracted to Gloria in the wig, but assures her that it's only because it's her under the wig, and loves her no matter what she wears. This moment is why this show is excellent, especially the earlier seasons, when the writing was superior. This isn't the funniest episode, but it's solid with a very interesting subject matter.
