How I Play Golf, by Bobby Jones #5: The Medium Irons (1931)

** 1/2 (out of 4)

The fifth film in the series has Bobby Jones running into a small child who wants to watch him play golf so Bobby takes him out on the course for a few lessons. Soon others join as Bobby tries to explain the best use for medium irons and how they can be used for more than just one type of shot. As with the previous four, this one here is not only a teaching lesson for Jones but we also get a wrap-around story. This type out that story isn't all that entertaining but it does allow for a couple cute moments between the boy (Georgie Billings) and Jones. It really does appear that Jones like children as the two share some nice chemistry together. The actual golf lesson here isn't nearly as dry as some in the series and I think golf buffs are going to be the ones who get the most entertainment out of this. I don't know enough about the sport to say whether or not these lessons would help anyone today but it's still nice getting to see the golf legend giving these lessons.
