Season ten starts with a bang

Warning: Spoilers
The first episode of season ten provides us with a tale that is as heartwarming as any we have seen in a long time. It begins as Kip Gilman, a man on the run from a murder charge, meets up with a runaway boy, Packy Kerlin, looking for his mother. Kip has three men in pursuit of him and thinks that if the two team up and appear to just be a father and son on the trail it will not gain any suspicion from lawmen. So the two make their way to Dodge looking for the beautiful Elena Kerlin, the mother of young Packy.

When they arrive in Dodge, Kip asks Kitty if she knows Elena. With a stunned look Kitty tells him that she is living in Rathole Alley across the tracks from the main town. When Kip takes the boy to meet her mother, they find a drunk nasty looking woman that cares not for herself nor her child. Kip feels so bad for the young Packy that he takes it upon himself to make her realize what a wonder boy that she has in life.

But while all this is going on, the three men chasing Kip ride into Dodge. One of the men named Sykes seems almost bound to get at Kip no matter the circumstance. It will come down to Marshal Dillon getting a telegraph from a Sheriff in Texas where we learn why Sykes is so determined to get Kip. When Kip thinks the men have Packy, he will risk his life so the boy can finally have a mother.

Was very impressed with the acting on this show. Tim O'Conner, that played Kip, made you really feel for the character. Young Kurt Russell and the lovely Diane Ladd made the show enjoyable to watch. A sweet story to start off another season of 'Gunsmoke'.
