Cannon: The Endangered Species (1972)
Season 2, Episode 12
7/10
Pretty good--though there isn't a lot of suspense with this one when it comes to who committed the killing.

Warning: Spoilers
Unlike some episodes of detective shows, this one starts with showing a guy (Carl Betz) murder someone--so you know from the outset that the man soon accused of killing his son (Andrew Duggan). But you soon realize just how bad the frame-up is when you learn that the murderer is the lawyer who is supposed to be working to prove the father is innocent! When Cannon gets involved, he soon notices that this lawyer already is talking as if his client is guilty--and naturally this gets out favorite rotund detective thinking. However, this all occurs only about 10 minutes into the show--so you know it will take another 40 minutes for him to put all the pieces together! You know, just once, I'd love for a detective to solve the crime in 10 or 15 minutes--just to keep the audience guessing! During the intervening time, Cannon goes big horn sheep hunting, delivers his trademark 'death hug' where he squeezes his victim into unconsciousness, gets dynamite tossed at him (really!) and discovers a skeleton! All in all, a very eventful 40 minutes.
