An average entertainer which thunders like cloud in the trailer but blunders without making any impact

When you have name like Rajkumar Santoshi associated with a film , the bound of expectations goes sky rocketing up. However , Phata Poster Nikla Hero will break the myth and it will enormously disappointment you.

Vishwas Rao(played by Shahid Kapoor) wants to become a hero but his mother wants him to become a honest and hardworking police officer. As he reaches Mumbai, series of events takes place where he is misguided as cop. After reading his heroic deeds in a local newspaper, his mother plans to visit him. Vishwas Rao must confront her that he is the real cop.

From legendary film-maker of Ghayal, Ghatak, Damini, Andaz Apna Apna, Pukar, China-gate etc., my expectations were shattered with this terrible slapstick comic film. The movie reminds of 90's entertainment with mother-son melodrama , comedy which we have witnessed ample time before, song-dance routine. The screenplay does not hold and editing is loose. Direction wise , Santoshi is not in form. He tried to repeat the winning formula of Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani but falls flat on the face. In fact, even the songs are terrible. Coming to performance, Shahid Kapoor promises in few scenes but goes over the top. He still has long way to go to prove his mettle. Illeana D Cruze overacts. Saurabh Shukla , Darshan Jariwal and Zakir Hussain lends good support.

Overall, an average entertainer which thunders like cloud in the trailer but blunders without making any impact. Average 2/5
