Dog and Scissors

Warning: Spoilers
Protagonist Kazuhito Harumi is an avid reader who particularly enjoys the writing of Shinobu Akiyama. As the first episode begins he is a high-schooler but after he is shot and killed while protecting a woman he finds himself occupying the body of a dachshund! He is soon adopted by Kirihime Natsuno; the girl he saved who also happens to be authoress Shinobu Akiyama. She can hear his thoughts so knows who he really is and when he thinks something she doesn't like she punishes him with the scissors she keeps in a sheath on her thigh! When a slasher starts attacking people in the area it becomes apparent that s/he is obsessed with Shinobu's books so she and Kazuhito try to find the identity of the attacker.

While this isn't the best of the season's new anime releases it is rather fun and certainly rather original. There are plenty of laughs to be had; mostly from the suffering of Kazuhito's suffering at the hands of Shinobu. The story is of course rather silly but once one has come to accept that the protagonist is a dog it is enjoyably. The characters are interesting and amusing in their own ways; the best being Shinobu… although if you dislike tsundere characters you may disagree! These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.
