Sweet and happy episode - writers focused on celebrating B&B's relationship as well their friendships with almost the historically complete ensemble, Zach being the most notable exception and Parker being the most puzzling.

Could have been better - could have included a more engaging crime, could have had a tighter, sharper script. Could have included a contrapuntal, explicitly comic subplot (there were many hints, from what kind of wedding, where, civil or religious, who to officiate, what to wear, etc).

Personally, I'm glad that the writers decided to play it safe. Could have been better but could have been another disaster just as easily.

The vows summarize the entire episode: a little over-long, a little sappy but totally appropriate for a completion we've all been waiting for for a long, long time. A case of minor flaws adding weight to the whole and disappearing in the whole that they helped to create.

12-1-13

Just saw it again and liked it better, much better, than the first time around; the vows, that seemed over-long and sappy the first time around, didn't this time - maybe 'cause I knew they were coming or maybe I was just in a sentimental mood. Same with the rest of the 'flaws' I mentioned, especially the sloppy, disjointed nature of the script. It works as a mirror to the sloppy, disjoint nature of all the emotions flying around. While the writers could have some fun with bits and pieces of comic sub-tones regarding dress, rites, etc. (which they did at the end) I'm still glad that they stuck with the mess they had without tying bow and ribbons to it.

Update 3-3-14 Parker was there! Missed him the first time around. And. on second viewing, many of 'weak' elements, like the sappy vows, didn't seem so weak anymore. Maybe I was in a more sentimental mood second time around but this is becoming a first tier favorite for me.
