Michiko to Hatchin (2008–2009)
8/10
If you like Cowboy Bebop and well crafted characters this is the anime for you

Warning: Spoilers
There's something just a little different about Michiko and Hatchin. Weather it's the music and background (both clearly styled after Latin America most notability Brazil instead of the usual Japan setting). The strong female leads (each with a different rich and vibrant personality).Or the episodic way the the show takes itself (yes very cowboy bebop like), there's no denying this show is different and that's a good thing in the anime community when there's just so much of the same going around these days. The plot is simple. Convict Michiko Malandro escapes from prison intent on finding her long lost love Hiroshi Morenos, her only clue to finding him comes in the form of a little girl named Hana who may or may not be Hiroshi's daughter. She kidnaps Hana from her foster home and the two set out on a exciting journey to find the man these to women have a strong connection too. What will make or break this show for you is our two female leads. Both have uniquely different personalities, Michiko is hard headed and cusses enough that even a sailor would blush while Hana is straight forward, sensible and even a little wise beyond her years. There's also a female cop with past ties to Michiko and two psychotic gangsters that will show up every so often. If I haven't stressed this enough already Michiko and Hatchin is something fun and different if you have the time to check it out I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
