The Untouchables: Man Killer (1961)
Season 3, Episode 8
7/10
Tough Cookie
2 December 2013
The Untouchables in this episode are dealing with a cab company that wants to provide a distribution network for the Capone organization heroin product and certainly the idea is an intriguing one. The idea is brought to Frank Nitti by Grant Richards who used to be with Capone back when Al was running it, but now has this cab company.

Richards makes the moves but then is bumped off by none other than his wife Ruth Roman using her cabbie trigger man Jay Adler. Roman moves right in to the deal with Bruce Gordon. Unfortunately Robert Stack and his squad are right in on the trail.

Two women dominate this Untouchables story. Ruth Roman plays one tough cookie who has decided she's tired of being a doormat and running the business for her flashy husband. And Anne Helm plays a junkie nightclub singer who goes into rehab. If the episode had made her character the prime focus it could have been called The Woman With The Golden Arm. The scenes of drug withdrawal are right from that Otto Preminger classic.
