Lurid and exciting!
16 February 2014
I have seen quite a few episodes of the old "Racket Squad" TV show and I think I found this one to be the most exciting. It's lurid and exciting at the finale--and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Unlike the typical examples of fraud you see on this show, this one is about elder abuse. It seems Grandma felt she was in the way (because her granddaughter was a nasty piece of work) and so she's decided to get her own apartment. The new place seems quite nice and the landlady seems so very sweet. Things just couldn't get better. However, after the old woman feels very comfortable and trusting in this place, the trap is sprung. Her landlady gets a visit from a man claiming to be from the bank--unless they get $3000 in the next few days, they'll repossess the house. Naturally this was all staged and they deliberately did it so that the old woman could hear them. Soon, the old lady is giving her landlady her life savings--and then another side of the landlady appears. She's now very cold and very abusive--and not just mentally but physically as well--and the police manage to arrive just in time to catch her working over the two old ladies that live there! This episode isn't subtle but quite lurid and exciting. Well worth seeing and very interesting to watch--especially since elder abuse and scams defrauding the elderly are still serious problems.
