What Did He Do to Deserve This?
31 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Quite a predictable episode. A defiant young man is brought to a military-like facility by his corporate CEO mother. She is washing her hands of him. He is doomed to years away from his friends, girlfriend, and temptations. He is no sooner there then he is rendered unconscious and has a device implanted in his neck. This allows his superiors to inflict commands and pain at the right times. He even witnesses the suicide of a fellow cadet where the cold hearted commandant simply says, "We've got to get this lock fixed." He finds these young men are being turned into death machines. Apparently, because he has had an ulcer in the past, it has messed up the neural pathways and made some of the controls ineffective. However, his efforts to resist "getting with the program" fail. He soon allies himself with another student who has similar misgivings. What the instructors are teaching is that sometimes assassination is a necessary tool to help the corporations benefit financially. He realizes that they don't just talk; they are perfectly capable of carrying out their principles. This leads to what must be done.
