Kochadaiiyaan (2014)

God Awful

I have nothing against motion capture as a medium. It has been used effectively in movies, and even video games. An example i quote is L.A Noire, a video game where motion capture is used to capture every nuance of the emotions of the characters, to create a mind-blowing experience.

I went into Kochadaiyaan without seeing many trailers, with the hope that it would blow me away. It didn't. Instead, I wished I could blow myself away with a grenade. Or two. Or make it ten. The story...not top notch, but not bad either. Songs....not spectacular. But the medium ? Here i quote Roger Ebert from one of his reviews

"If you want to save yourself the ticket price, go into the kitchen, cue up a male choir singing the music of hell, and get a kid to start banging pots and pans together. Then close your eyes and use your imagination."

Nothing else to say, therefore I conclude via another Roger Ebert quote, which pretty much sums up the Kochadaiyaan experience I had.

"I hated this movie. Hated, hated, hated, hated, hated this movie. Hated it. Hated every simpering stupid vacant audience-insulting moment of it. Hated the sensibility that thought anyone would like it. Hated the implied insult to the audience by its belief that anyone would be entertained by it."

That is all.
