Review of City Hunter

City Hunter (2011)
10/10
My favorite Korean drama so far

Warning: Spoilers
I have always been a huge fan of movies or TV series such as Zorro, Superman, and The Scarlet Pimpernel. City Hunter has the same elements that I love in these other stories--a good looking man as the star, who has a secret identity and even wears a mask at times. He uses his wits to foil the bad guys and he is very skilled at fighting. He tries to help the innocent victims and ruin the evil guys without killing them.

Usually, an episode ends on a cliffhanger, but with Netflix you don't have to wait to see what happens next.

The first episode was not my most liked, but I stuck it out because the star, Lee Min Ho is my favorite Korean actor. I love everything he has been in that I have seen so far.

This Korean drama is the one I prefer most, now that I have seen at least 23 entire dramas. They typically are 16-24--sometimes more--episodes each. Each episode is usually just over an hour, with no commercials (on Netflix). Each series is a complete story that ends when it is complete. I also like that it isn't R rated. I would definitely say it was PG 13. Not sure what the standards are in South Korea for rating shows.

The only complaint I have is that you have to be a fast reader to read the subtitles before they disappear. I think the English subtitles are transcribed by volunteers and you occasionally see grammar mistakes, but it is still worth it to see this show.
